Investigation underway after shooting in Seattle’s CID area

SEATTLE — Police are investigating after a 31-year-old man was injured after a shooting in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District Saturday night.

The victim called police at 10:15 p.m. to report a man had fired a gun in the 1200 block of South Jackson Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man with minor injuries to his leg.

The man told police he was walking down the street when he passed another man who reportedly pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the ground.

The victim was injured as a result of shrapnel from the fired bullet ricocheting off the ground and into his leg. He then fled the scene until he felt he was a safe distance away and called police.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any possible suspects.

The victim described the suspect as a Vietnamese man in his 30s or 40s. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a cream-colored crosshatch pattern at the time of the incident.
