SEATTLE — After months of transition, Kaiser Permanente's buyout of Group Health is evident and the healthcare organization opened its doors with the new name Monday.
Though the company's acquisition of Group Health was complete on Feb. 1, Monday marks an important milestone, where Kaiser Permanente’s name and logo was revealed at its medical center on Capitol Hill as the organization's affordable health care model is now available in Seattle and Tacoma and several other cities in Washington.
There will be 25 primary care clinics in 17 cities, five urgent-care facilities and four outpatient surgery centers.
Kaiser Permanente has also announced plans to invest $1 billion over the next decade to expand and modernize facilities and technology.
After taking over Group Health, Kaiser Permanente is caring for more than 674,000 members in the region.
