SEATTLE — A recent Kelsey Grammer interview with New York Life spilled the beans on a few details for the upcoming Frasier reboot, including the iconic character’s plans to leave Seattle.
While promoting his new film “The God Committee,” Grammer was asked to share some thoughts on the upcoming Paramount+ limited series.
Grammer says they have reached out to the actors that played Niles, Daphne and Roz, saying the reboot will serve as a “third act for everybody.”
The show would acknowledge the death of Frasier’s father Martin, played by John Mahoney, in the first episode.
Mahoney tragically died in 2018 at the age of 77.
Grammer also said Frasier would be leaving Seattle and change cities again, after leaving Boston for Seattle at the end of Cheers.
Grammer described Frasier as the “George Bailey of television,” a reference to It’s A Wonderful Life, where he plans on doing one thing, but his life takes him in a different direction.
Frasier will also end up “rich beyond his wildest dreams,” Grammer said with a smile.
