KENT, Wash. — Kent police arrested a stalking suspect yesterday, Aug. 19, after he violated a protection order.
The suspect had no romantic connection to the victim, with police reporting he found her through social media, according to the Kent Police Department on Facebook.
“A lot of our stalking cases occur after bad break ups, but this was not that,” the post reads. “It’s more unusual, but it does happen.”
Kent Police Officer Quidachay notified the suspect about the violation and asked the suspect to turn himself in. The suspect did come down to the station and was arrested upon arrival.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, Kent police recommend holding onto records and asking for help. That being said, if the situation escalates, they urge you to request a protection order.
They also recommend making sure you, your house, and digital accounts are secure, double checking your location services, and changing up your daily habits.
Kent PD say you should alert “friends, family, co-workers, school, boss, and the HR of your employer” to keep them aware and to make sure they know not to release any personal information.
