King Country Metro installing mask dispensers on all buses

King County Metro is installing mask dispensers on all of its buses by the end of March, the agency announced Tuesday.

The goal is to have dispensers on the entire fleet by March 31 or sooner.

Each dispenser will be stocked with double layer surgical masks.

Metro has been requiring masks on its buses since last May, with about 90% compliance. On buses that have mask dispensers, 94% of passengers wear masks, a blog post said.

Mask dispensers were first installed on routes with higher ridership back in September 2020, and 342 buses have been outfitted with dispensers so far.
