SEATTLE — King County announced on Thursday that it has completed the purchase of another hotel to house the homeless.
Executive Dow Constantine made the announcement from the former Holiday Inn and Suites on Aurora Avenue in North Seattle. Officials also announced it was a $17.5 million purchase.
“We’re glad to be able to partner with the City of Seattle on the County’s third hotel purchase to help our most vulnerable residents regain health and stability,” said Constantine. “Health through Housing is a powerful tool to change people’s lives, helping them off the street and into a safe and secure place to call home.”
This is the third hotel the county purchased. It has also acquired facilities in Queen Anne and Renton.
This is the latest hotel through the Health Through Health housing program.
The program is a regional approach to bring chronically homeless individuals off the street and into permanent, supportive housing in existing hotels and other facilities purchased by King County.
