ENUMCLAW, Wash. — The King County Fair opens Thursday in Enumclaw.
It celebrates agriculture and features livestock, rodeos, rides, vendors and exhibitions, barrel racing, 4-H, entertainment and food.
It’s the oldest fair west of the Mississippi. It was founded in 1863, when Abraham Lincoln was president and the Washington Territory was 26 years from statehood, according to the fair’s website. It originally took place in the Georgetown area, but in 1965, it moved to Enumclaw.
It opens at 10 a.m. at the Enumclaw Expo and Event Center and runs through Sunday.
