SEATTLE, Wash. — The KIRO 7 News family will soon be growing. We are delighted to share that morning anchor Deedee Sun is expecting a baby girl.
Deedee shared the announcement to social media on Tuesday, and with viewers on air on Wednesday – including photos from a Hawaii trip that was secretly a babymoon, and an ultrasound video of the baby in utero, who made her first on-air debut:
Questions for Deedee
We are so excited for Deedee and her husband! We went ahead and asked her some of the questions you may be wondering, too.
When is the baby due?
Baby girl is due on May 16, 2025!
Do you have a name picked yet?
We do not have a name picked out yet. At this rate, the name may end up even being a surprise even to us! Ha!
How are you feeling?
I feel great! But must admit – the first trimester was worse than I thought, despite all the warnings. It’s tough to feel nauseous and exhausted constantly. Serious props to all the mamas out there!
Any weird cravings or aversions?
In the first trimester, yes absolutely! Meteorologist Nick Allard ordered Pad Thai for lunch one day and that triggered a serious Thai craving! We had a ton of groceries and I tried to ignore it for a couple of days, but finally gave in. When I got those noodles, I almost cried with joy. As for aversions, I normally love a good curry, but even the thought of curry or cumin was triggering nausea. My husband even had to hide our jar of cumin spice in the garage! But now I’m fully back in business with all the spices.
Anything else you want to share?
I want to thank everyone at home and all our viewers for their support over the years! I’ve grown so much at KIRO7 in the past seven years. I met my husband on the East Coast but got married in Kent (during COVID, a year before our wedding in Hawaii). My mom and stepdad moved to the PNW a couple of years ago. And now we are so beyond thrilled (though nervous for sure) to be raising our first child soon in the Seattle area. I’m so happy for the opportunity to share this journey with all our viewers too!
