LAKE STEVENS, Wash. — A Lake Stevens family is mourning the loss of an 11-year-old boy who died one week after after he was hit by a car while sledding in Pateros.
“That boy had so much love to give everybody. His hugs were the greatest,” tearfully said Tammy Wilson, a close family friend. “Horrible. Been a nightmare.”
Tyeson Kane attended Glenwood Elementary. He loved football and was a proud member of the Lake Stevens Jr. Vikings, a youth football team.
“He was a loving kid, just loved everybody, loved video games, loved being with family,” added Wilson.
Tyeson had been fighting for his life since December 26 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. His family was by his side and the community of Lake Stevens rallied behind them on a Facebook page called "Prayers and Positivity for Tyeson! #TyesonStrong” and through a GoFundMe page which has raised more than $15,000.
KIRO 7 spoke to his mother by phone when she shared the heartbreaking news of Tyeson's death. Though grief-stricken, she said she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community but is asking for privacy right now.

She released a statement on the Facebook page which reads: “We are overwhelmed by the love, support, concerns and care from family friends and communities a far.
"Especially our hometown community lake Stevens Vikings, whom have come together to honor and support our Tyeson With the Tyeson strong movement.
"There’s no greater honor than to know my son has touched so many hearts. Tyeson was the most beautiful, kind, loving soul with his own special little twist and quick wit. Tyeson peacefully fell asleep in my arms surrounded by loved ones.
"He will always be remembered as our tyeson strong. From the depth of my heart thank you all.”
“Keep the prayers coming for the family and positive light and love because they definitely need it,” Wilson said.
