KING COUNTY, Wash. — Officials with King County closed Lake Wilderness Beach in Maple Valley after high levels of bacteria were found in the water.
On Monday, the water was tested, and health officials closed the park for swimming, wading and other water activities.
Officials said the concession stand and boat rentals will remain open and that is weather dependent. Paddleboards will not be made available.
Water samples were collected by officials on June 26, but bacteria levels did not meet the criteria needed for reopening, officials said.
More testing is expected to happen next week.
Officials said if levels are met, the beach will reopen before the Fourth of July.
