Landslide halts Amtrak service between Seattle and Vancouver, BC

A landslide near White Rock, British Columbia, has disrupted train service between Seattle and Vancouver, BC, prompting BNSF Railway to impose a 48-hour moratorium on passenger trains.

The moratorium began Thursday, December 19, affecting Amtrak’s Cascades service.

Passengers scheduled on trains 516, 517, 518, and 519 will be provided alternate bus transportation.

Northbound passengers on Friday, December 20, may experience delays in Bellingham while waiting for clear tracks.

Normal train operations are expected to resume around noon on Friday.

Amtrak is also waiving additional fees for passengers who need to change their reservations due to schedule changes.
