BONNEY LAKE, Wash. — Utility inspectors have found natural gas leaking from dozens of meters at a new development in a Bonney Lake neighborhood.
The Tacoma News Tribune reported that Puget Sound Energy discovered the leaks after it sent a team of inspectors and repair workers last week to Tehaleh when multiple residents reported the odor of leaking natural gas.
The team found leaks in about one out of every two meters. By Friday, the rate had slowed to 85 leaks among 600 homes that were checked.
PSE spokesman Charlie Gadzik told the News Tribune the utility plans to check all of the 850 gas meters in the 4,700-acre Tehaleh development and make repairs as necessary.
