Wildfire evacuations downgraded for some areas near Chelan

As firefighters work to put out the Union Valley Fire, just north of the Lake Chelan Golf Course, evacuation orders have been downgraded from Level 3 — leave now — to Level 2 — be ready to leave — for specific areas.

People who still need to be on guard are those living near Horizon Lane and Windy Ridge Lane.

Union Valley and Calgle Gulch roads are closed off.

The areas north of those evacuation areas are under a Level 1 evacuation — be on alert — or stand by for evacuation.

Firefighters said the fire has burned about 20 acres and no homes have been lost.

KIRO 7 received video of crews fighting the fire as water was dropped from the air on the hillside where it is burning.
