According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, approximately 80 homes were under the various notifications, including homes from Moses Stool. Rock Island Grade Road to State Route 28 was under level 3 notification.

At about 2:23 p.m. Sunday, authorities issued level 3 notices to people living in the area of North Ward Avenue to Keane Grade Road. During that time, the Batterman Fire was estimated to have exceeded 750 acres but continued to grow to more than 1600 acres by 8 p.m.

Officials said the wind had caused the fire to grow rapidly, threatening multiple structures in the area.

Sometime around 2 p.m. Sunday, deputies tweeted that level 2 evacuation notifications had been issued to those in the area of South Ward Avenue to Woodbridge Drive. Level 1 notices were issued for those East of Woodridge Drive to Keane Grade Road. At around 8:30 p.m., officials said level 1 evacuation notices had been issued for the Palisades too.

Deputies said State Mobilization was requested to help fight the fire and air resources had also been ordered earlier in the day.

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste approved the deployment of mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau to help fight the fire.

Before mobilization, two helicopters were reportedly at the scene battling the blaze, according to a report from The Wenatchee World.

The Red Cross was also called and is providing emergency shelter to those currently under level 3 notices.

As of Monday morning, there were no reports of any injuries and/or structure losses.

Multiple agencies from around the state are helping with the firefighting efforts but the Northwest Incident Management Team plans to shift command of the fire to local fire managers at 6 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said on Friday evening: “While the fire is expected to stay within containment lines, firefighters will continue to monitor and patrol containment lines and mop up in the fire area.”
