KENT, Wash. — A level III sex offender from Kent was charged with first-degree child molestation in King County Superior Court.
The molestation is alleged to have happened on June 16, 2019 at an apartment complex in Kent.

In charging documents, prosecutors said Ronell Ray Jackson, 35, had sexual contact with a 9-year-old girl for the purpose of sexual gratification.
Police said they were called to the apartment complex around 10:30 p.m. on June 23, after a woman overheard her daughter say she had been touched by Jackson.
In a probable cause document, police said Jackson was dating the girl’s mother and stayed at her residence on the night of the alleged molestation.
During an interview with a specialist, police said the girl explained how she was molested and said she did not initially tell anyone because she was afraid and did not want Jackson to go to jail.

Police said Jackson declined to speak with detectives about the allegation.
Police said in their initial contact with him, Jackson “was off his medication, was acting strangely and hallucinating,” and that the officers determined “Jackson needed to be involuntarily committed.”
Jackson was taken into custody and transported to hospital for a evaluation, according to a probable cause document.
His criminal history includes prior convictions for second-degree child molestation, indecent exposure, and failure to register as a sex offender, among others.
