SEATTLE — A number of local politicians have issued statements in the hours since President Donald Trump announced that he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for coronavirus late Thursday night.

Their positive tests came hours after Trump confirmed that Hope Hicks, one of most trusted and longest-serving aides, had been diagnosed with the virus Thursday.

Hicks began feeling mild symptoms during the plane ride home from a rally in Minnesota on Wednesday evening, according to an administration official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

As of Friday afternoon, White House officials said Trump was suffering “mild symptoms” and was quarantining with the First Lady.
