SEATTLE, Wash. — Change is brewing for a Washington-based cider company.
Locust Cider has closed six Washington state taprooms.
The cidery made the announcement on social media Tuesday, saying the following are closed immediately:
-Seattle’s Alki Beach location
-Seattle’s First Hill location
-Redmond
-Olympia
-Vancouver
-Walla Walla
“While this decision is necessary to ensure the future health of our company, it’s also incredibly painful,” the company wrote online.
Locust Cider began in 2015. In 2019, the company expanded its reach. However, the cidery says the Covid-19 pandemic pushed them to the brink.
“We kept going—sometimes stubbornly—when what we really needed was to pause and rebuild with a clearer, more sustainable path,” the announcement online said.
The company’s Gig Harbor, Woodinville, Spokane, Seattle-Market Place, and Seattle-Post Alley taprooms remain open.
