Around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Washington State Patrol troopers were told about a carjacking using a knife that happened at the Blaine border crossing.
According to WSP, an officer with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) was almost hit by a pickup at the crossing.
CBP started to chase the pickup southbound on I-5 toward Bellingham.
As the car reached Bellingham, WSP joined the chase after the driver did not stop for CBP.
CBP was in the air and was also following the pickup from the sky.
WSP then took the lead in the chase and tried to stop the pickup with stop sticks but was not successful.
WSP said the PIT maneuver was used and with the help of Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and CBP officers the driver was arrested.
Troopers found a machete in the pickup that was stolen from British Columbia.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of felony eluding.
