AUBURN, Wash. — Investigators say an Auburn police officer shot and killed a man who was armed with a knife early Monday.

Officers were called to a report of a domestic argument at the Palermo Apartments off 71st Street Southeast at 12:47 a.m.

A man who was involved in the dispute met police in the parking lot where a fight occurred between the man and officers, according to police.

During the fight, the man displayed a knife. Police said after commands were given to drop the knife and the man did not follow orders, one shot was fired by an officer.

The suspect, who was in his 20s, was hit by the gunshot and died at the scene.

No officers were hurt.

The Valley Investigations Team is handling the investigation.
