AUBURN, Wash. — A man was arrested on suspicion of unlawful discharge of a firearm after police say he admitted to “target practicing” near Auburn Riverside High School on Wednesday.
Around 10 a.m., police said Auburn Riverside and surrounding schools were put into lockdown after gunshots were heard in the area.

Officers at the scene also reported hearing the shots fired.
Police said the shots were coming from a wooded hillside near the school.
A drone was flown over the area to assist in the search, and police said a man was located wearing camo clothes and a black backpack.
“The male reported that he was just target practicing,” a spokesperson for the Auburn Police Department wrote in a news release.
