MONROE, Wash. — Monroe police officers arrested a man who they say kicked in a window at a veterinary clinic.
At around 4:30 a.m. Monday, patrolling officers noticed a shattered window at Kindness Animal Clinic at 19845 State Route 2.
No one was found inside the clinic.
During a check of the area, officers spoke with a 41-year-old man walking near the clinic. He told officers he heard a window break but denied being involved.
Officers said they were suspicious that the man was responsible for the damage but did not have probable cause to detain him.
Later that morning, other officers contacted businesses near the clinic to review and collect surveillance footage. Police said some of the footage showed that the man officers spoke with earlier had broken the window. Video showed the man kicking the window until it broke.
Monroe police officers found the man that evening and placed him under arrest. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree malicious mischief, which is a felony.
Damage to the clinic was estimated to be $1,905.
