BOTHELL, Wash. — A Bothell man was arrested for allegedly threatening and yelling homophobic slurs at a gay couple, court documents say.
The couple was walking their dog on the sidewalk July 14 when the defendant charged toward them and starting yelling, documents say.
A report from the Bothell Police Department says that the couple told the cops they tried to ignore the man, who went on to yell, “I’m going to kick your ass, “f*** you f******,’ and “I’ll f****** you.”
One of the men asked the suspect to back away from them as he was “lurching towards the couple in a fighting stance,” the police report said.
Both men said to police that they felt as if they were in danger of being physically harmed by the suspect.
A neighbor overheard the altercation and confirmed the account to police.
The suspect is being charged with a hate crime in King County Superior Court for maliciously threatening the men and placing them in “reasonable fear of harm to person or property,” documents say.
