Man fatally shot in downtown Everett identified

EVERETT, Wash. — A man who was fatally shot in downtown Everett in late November 2021, has been identified.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 48-year-old Jerome L. Burnett’s cause of death was due to a gunshot wound and his manner of death was homicide.

On Nov. 27, officers were near California Street and Rockefeller Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. when they heard gunfire and responded.

They found a man who had been shot and started first aid.

Medics took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A police K-9 searched the area, but officers were unable to track down a suspect.

The investigation remains ongoing.
