SAMMAMISH, Wash. — A man with a gunshot wound was found dead inside a large Sammamish home overnight after what may have been a drive-by shooting.
A neighbor told us the home on the shores of Lake Sammamish was listed on Airbnb and Vrbo and that her daughter’s friends have rented it.
Deputies said that at 1:21 a.m. on Thursday, 911 dispatchers received a call from a home in the 3500 block of East Lake Sammamish Road Southeast reporting that shots were fired, according to King County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Eric White.
When deputies arrived at the home, they found a man with a gunshot wound inside. The victim was in his 60s. The man who called 911 was also in the home.
Medics arrived and tried to save the victim, but he was pronounced dead.
White said the gunshots were later determined to be from a possible drive-by shooting. Video from the scene showed bullet holes in the home’s front windows.
Craig Farmer lives off East Lake Sammamish Road Northeast.
He said the last thing he expected to hear was that a possible drive-by shooting happened overnight, right across from where he lives.
“It kind of makes me want to be a little more vigilant and really try to understand what happened here so we might be able to take whatever steps are necessary to prevent that from happening again,” said Farmer.
There are no suspects.
