SEATTLE — A man is dead after an early morning shooting in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.
Seattle Police officers were called to a report of a shooting at the Langdon & Anne Simons Senior Apartments at Third Avenue and Blanchard Street, at 1 a.m. Thursday.
Police arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound inside an apartment. Officers gave him aid while medics were on the way, but he died at the scene.
What led up to the shooting is not known.
A shooting inside the senior apartments was a surprise, especially for Bruce, a man who lives there.
“Puzzled! Not knowing what the hell is going on — see a homicide cop walking down the hall,” he said. “I didn’t hear a damn thing last night unless it was somebody that was good with their hands.”
We talked to another man who lives in the building, Russell Yano, who had no idea there had been a shooting where he lives.
“Are you kidding me? No, that’s scary,” Yano exclaimed.
Yano said that having police in the area is fairly common, but having a shooting inside his building was “too close for comfort.”
“Police come here a lot because there’s a lot of people that hang out here that do drugs,” said Yano.
The Seattle Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit and homicide detectives were at the scene as officers secured the area.
Police inside the building were gathering evidence and trying to review surveillance video.
