Man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by pickup truck in Puyallup

PUYALLUP, Wash. — A man was hospitalized early Tuesday after he was struck by a pickup truck in Puyallup, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The collision occurred just before 5 a.m. on Canyon Road East, just south of 138th Street East, in the Summit Area.

Deputies’ initial investigation indicates that the man was crossing Canyon Road from west to east when the truck hit him as it was traveling northbound.

The driver said that he saw the pedestrian at the last second and couldn’t avoid hitting him, according to the PCSD.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed to traffic for about two hours while authorities responded to the scene.

The PCSD traffic unit will lead the investigation into this collision.
