Man hospitalized in critical condition after being shot near Edmonds Fishing Pier

EDMONDS, Wash. — An 18-year-old man was critically hurt in an early-morning shooting while hanging out by the Edmonds pier with his sister.

According to Edmonds police, 911 received a call from the sister around 2:30 a.m., saying that her brother had been shot.

Edmonds PD says that a quick response from officers and medical crews helped save the man’s life, as aid was administered and he was taken to Harborview Medical Center right away with multiple gunshot wounds.

After speaking with the sister, Edmonds PD learned that the two were at the waterfront near the ferry terminal and Arnies restaurant, which is a common spot to hang out and fish, even late into the evening.

Police say four to six men in dark clothing approached the two and confronted them. Following a “very brief verbal exchange” at least one of the suspects, maybe two, opened fire on the victim.

The siblings did not appear to know this group, and the suspects ran off.

Law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions responded, including Marysville, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, and “everywhere in between”, according to Edmonds police.

Two canine teams immediately began searching along the waterfront and the train tracks, along with a drone and detectives canvassing the area.

A detective was also sent to Harborview Medical Center, where the victim remains in critical condition.

While the victim’s sister was uninjured, police say she is also being treated as a victim given the circumstances.

Edmonds police say that robbery doesn’t appear to be the motive at this time, but the investigation into the suspects and the motive is ongoing.

Witnesses around the area who may have heard or seen something are speaking to police, and anyone with additional information or details is encouraged to contact Edmonds police.
