Man hurt in Pioneer Square shooting

SEATTLE — A man was taken to the hospital after he was shot in Seattle’s Pioneer Square Wednesday morning.

At 6 a.m., multiple people called 911 to report a shooting in the 700 block of Third Avenue.

Seattle police officers arrived and found a man who had been shot in the stomach.

Officers began first aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived. The 34-year-old victim was stable when he was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Officers searched for the shooter based on witnesses’ descriptions, but the man had already fled the area.

Investigators found the shooting scene at the corner of Third Avenue and Cherry Street, where officers collected evidence and took pictures.
