A man in a Scream mask terrified a woman running on the Burke Gilman Trail Sunday.

The incident happened about 9 p.m. near the 5200 block of 40th Avenue Northeast.

“She heard a ‘whoosh’ sound behind her,” police spokesman Jonah Spangenthal-Lee said in a statement. “She turned and saw a man wearing a ‘Ghostface’ mask was standing in the bushes staring at her. When he began to walk toward her, the woman screamed and ran to a nearby grocery store where she called 911.”

Officers couldn’t find the masked man. The woman was not injured in the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information to call (206) 625-5011, the department’s non-emergency number.
