Man injured in crash following police pursuit in Pierce County

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A man was seriously injured after crashing following a police pursuit Wednesday night in Pierce County, deputies said.

Sergeant Darren Moss said things started just before 9 p.m. at the Parkland Manor Apartments in the 1700 block of 106th Street when deputies got multiple calls about people shooting from a car.

Deputies responded but did not see the car that was described to them. However, another deputy spotted the vehicle on 84th Street South and B Street South. Law enforcement tried to stop the car, but it sped off and deputies lost sight of it, officials said.

Moments later, deputies spotted the car, which had crashed on South 84th Street and Alaska Street.

According to deputies, the driver was ejected from the car and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

No one was injured at the apartment complex and there was no property damage.

Authorities also said they are looking for a gun that may have been thrown out of the car.
