Man killed, woman hurt in Everett stabbing

EVERETT, Wash. — A man is dead and a woman is injured after a domestic dispute led to a stabbing in Everett Tuesday morning.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Oakes Avenue around 10:20 a.m. after receiving reports of someone having been stabbed.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, Joven H. Deitas of Everett, was identified by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday.

He was 26 years old.

The second victim, a woman in her late teens, suffered a non-fatal stab wound and was transported to Providence Medical Center for her injuries, according to the Everett Fire Department.

After the stabbing occurred, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

While investigating the scene, officers learned the suspect may have gone to a residence located in Snohomish County, near Lynnwood.

Deputies with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence and located the suspect inside.

He initially refused to come out, but he was later taken into custody without incident.

According to Everett Police Officer Kerby Duncan, the suspect lives with the victims, but the exact nature of their relationship is under investigation.
