Man shot near Pike Place Market, suspect arrested

A man was shot near Pike Place Market Friday afternoon, according to the Seattle Police Department.

At about 1:45 p.m. Friday, officers were flagged down near the 200 block of Pine Street by witnesses who said someone had been shot.

Officers soon located a man with gunshot injuries. They performed life-saving measures until medics arrived and transported the man to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

A person matching the description of the suspect was found near 8th Avenue and Stewart Street, where the 40-year-old man was taken into custody.

Officers recovered a handgun. The 40-year-old man is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The 40-year-old was booked into the King County Jail on charges of assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
