FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A 41-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning after he exited a rideshare vehicle on Interstate 5 and was struck by a passing vehicle, according to Washington State Patrol.
WSP reported that a Lyft driver had picked up the wrong passenger from Cheers Bar and Grill in Tacoma around 3 a.m.
The rideshare got onto Interstate 5, heading north toward Federal Way.
The passenger was reportedly acting “unruly” and began taking off his clothes.

Just after 3 a.m., the Lyft driver pulled over on the right shoulder of I-5 at State Route 18.
The man then got out of the vehicle and stood in the far left lane before walking into the adjacent lane.
Another northbound vehicle attempted to avoid the man, but was unable to and struck him and the rideshare vehicle.
The man was then struck by an additional vehicle traveling northbound.
He died at the scene.
The roadway was closed for over three hours while troopers investigated the incident.
