KENT, Wash. — Kent police arrested a man suspected of intentionally running over his 23-year-old girlfriend and then putting her inside his car and fleeing.
The woman did not survive.
On Thursday about 3:40 a.m., Kent police officers were called to the 24700 block of 102nd. Pl. after receiving several calls reporting gunshots and a woman who was hit by a car.
Officers interviewed a witness at the scene who said he watched a man and woman argue outside their car and then saw the man get into his car and use it to run over the woman. He then dragged the woman off the street, put her inside the car and prepared to drive off, according to the witness.

When the witness tried to confront the suspect, he drove off. The witness then fired two gunshots into the car’s tires to try to stop it, but the suspect kept going.
Kent police said officers converged on the area to search for the man and the victim. Around 4 a.m., Kent officers found the man walking near 264th and 104th Ave SE and took him into custody.
The suspect, a 23-year-old Renton man, identified the victim as his girlfriend. His car, with his girlfriend inside, was found a few minutes later a short distance away. Officers started CPR, but the woman, who was also from Renton, did not survive.
Charges are expected to be filed soon.
