The city of Federal Way will be paying a man who says he trying to help after a crash but was put in a choke hold by an officer nearly four years ago.
Josiah Hunter's lawyer said his client was trying to be a good Samaritan after witnessing a crash at Pacific Highway South and South 320th Street that involved a drunken driver in September 2014.
Hunter claimed he was choked by Federal Way officer Kris Durell, arrested and charged.
Prosecutors dropped all charges against Hunter, and on Tuesday a federal jury awarded him.
The city of Federal Way will pay Hunter $640,000.
