SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners announced Sunday that left-handed pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, 30, was selected to play for the American League in next week’s All-Star Game.
This is Kikuchi’s first career All-Star selection.
The Mariners shared the moment he found out. Mariners manager Scott Servais made the announcement in front of a packed clubhouse.

He is 6-3 with a 3.18 ERA (33 ER, 93.1 IP) with 31 walks and 93 strikeouts in 15 starts for the Mariners this season. In his last 11 starts, Kikuchi is 6-2 with a 2.33 ERA (18 ER, 69.2 IP) with 22 walks and 73 strikeouts.
The 91st All-Star Game is July 13 at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
