Mercer Island police investigate possible case of animal abuse caught on video

MERCER ISLAND, Wash. — Police on Mercer Island say they are investigating a possible case of animal abuse that was caught on camera.

On Sunday, police said a business’s Ring camera had captured the incident.

The video shows a man getting out of a car and beating his dog. Warning: The video contains disturbing content.

Police have been notified of the incident. They have also started an investigation and identified who the man is.

Police notified Regional Animal Services of King County about the video.

Officers from RASKC worked with Mercer Island police to identify the man in the video.

On Tuesday, officers executed a search warrant for a Bellevue address and seized the dog.

The dog is being examined by a veterinarian and will be held pending further investigation of animal cruelty.
