With the "Seattle Squeeze" one month away, local leaders unveiled a new plan to help commuters in West Seattle.

On Jan. 4, some ramps to the viaduct will close. On Jan. 11, the entire viaduct will close, forcing about 90,000 vehicles a day onto city streets.

The biggest impact will be felt before the new tunnel opens.

SDOT and King County Metro are teaming up to help commuters by offering Ride2 -- an on-demand van shuttle service. The service is available through an app where you can book your ride to either the West Seattle Junction or Water Taxi dock. You can also call 855-233-1880 to book a ride.

Ride2 is already available in Bellevue's Eastgate neighborhood. The idea is help with the last mile to keep commuters from driving their own cars.

The service started Monday.

King County Metro will also add a second water taxi boat starting Jan. 14.
