SEATTLE — Thieves broke into a West Seattle apartment garage early Sunday morning and stole a working steam train.
Surveillance video shows two people hauling the miniature locomotive out on a cart and then shoving it into a pickup.
The steam engine was in West Seattle for a boiler check by a train specialist.
The train is a big attraction at the Miniature World Family Fun Center in Birch Bay.
"I couldn't believe my eyes, it was just unreal. That might be the last time I see that locomotive," said Don Giffen, who bought the train more than 20 years ago.
The Giffen family is offering a $1,000 reward.
Seattle police say they are actively investigating the theft.
