Monroe High School closed Monday because of electrical fire

MONROE, Wash. — Monroe High School and Leaders High School are closed Monday because of a small electrical fire.

Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue responded to the commons at the school around 7 a.m.

The department says they extinguished the flames in about 10 minutes.

A statement on the district website says the fire started from a light fixture.

The district says students already on the bus will be returned to their designated stops.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff,” staff said in the statement.
