Mudslides, trees into houses as winds move through Western Washington

There were two slides, intermittent power outages and downed trees, including into occupied houses in Tacoma and Kenmore, as strong winds moved through Western Washington on Saturday.

Crews responded in the morning to a large tree that fell into a house on South 6th Avenue in Tacoma.

The house was occupied at the time, but no one was injured. The Hob Nob restaurant next door also suffered minor utility damage, officials said. A KIRO 7 viewer shared a video showing a large tree fallen into an occupied house in Kenmore.

A mudslide in Mason County had part of US 101 blocked until around 3 p.m. No one was injured. Downed trees were reported on Bainbridge Island and in areas of Bellevue. A second slide was reported Saturday afternoon along the Burke-Gilman Trail, causing a closure. Read details below.
