MultiCare announces security breach of employee information

MultiCare announced it was part of a security event where data about current and former employees was acquired without authorization, according to a media release.

The event originated with Kaye-Smith, a third party that prints W-2 and 1099 forms for MultiCare.

According to MultiCare, in early June 2022, Kaye-Smith was the subject of a ransomware attack where the names, addresses and social security numbers of a number of current and former MultiCare employees were accessed.

MultiCare was informed of the breach on Sept. 30.

Kaye-Smith said they have no reason to believe that any of the data was or will be made public.

Kaye-Smith will begin to send letters to affected MultiCare employees this week, offering two years of free credit monitoring and protection through Equifax Credit Watch Gold.
