2 pedestrians hit, killed by Sounder trains in separate incidents

Two pedestrians were hit and killed by Sounder trains in separate incidents Tuesday.

Officials said a pedestrian was fatally struck in Kent at about 5 p.m. and said the fatality will impact the Sounder south line trains.

Special buses are being sent to Kent to transport passengers to stations south.

Here are Tuesday evening updates from Sound Transit as of 5:45 p.m.:

Sounder south line train #1521 (5:20 p.m. Seattle departure) will depart King Street Station with approximately 15 minute delays and will encounter further delays en route to Lakewood.

Sounder south line train 1525 (6:30pm Seattle departure) is anticipated to depart on-time.

The following trains have been canceled:

Train #1519 (4:55 p.m. Seattle departure) – Canceled Train #1523 (5:45 p.m. Seattle departure) – Canceled Train #1522 (4:30 p.m. Tacoma departure) – Canceled Train #1524 (5:15 p.m. Tacoma departure) – Canceled

Special buses are being sent to Kent to transport passengers to stations south.

All Southbound ST Express 590 buses will operate as ST Express 594 to Lakewood Station.

All Southbound ST Express 577 buses will operate as ST Express 578 to Puyallup.

Early Tuesday morning, a train, which was heading north from Lakewood, hit a victim just south of the Sumner Station. The incident was reported by Sound Transit at 5:43 a.m. Tuesday.

Most trains were moving by around 7:20 a.m., but two trains from Seattle were canceled and two from Lakewood remain delayed.

Riders had to take buses or other modes of transportation while the tracks were closed.
