KING COUNTY, Wash. — A 14-year-old Burien boy is being charged with murder in the deadly shooting of a man outside a Renton convenience store last Wednesday and for a second homicide in which a young man was killed in October.
The boy, who is only two weeks from his 15th birthday, is being charged with first-degree and second-degree murder and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree, according to court documents.
In the shooting that happened last Wednesday in the 200 block of Benson Road South, police found a 54-year-old man, later identified as Anthony Pace, laying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said they were quickly able to identify the suspect, a passenger in a black SUV that left the scene before officers arrived.
The teen suspect was identified from surveillance footage and by postings on social media, according to court documents.
The second homicide occurred in October in the 4300 block of Northeast Fourth Street in the Safeway parking lot. A man was found dead between a pair of parked cars.
Court documents state Marc Anthony Valladolid had been shot four times. Lifesaving measures were performed, but he died at the scene.
In that shooting, Valladolid was reportedly loading groceries into his vehicle when the teen suspect, who was being driven around in a minivan by his girlfriend’s mother, drove toward the victim’s car, stopped in front of it and yelled, “What the #*@! you looking at?” according to court records.
Valladolid, who had gotten into his vehicle and was unarmed, got out of his car and walked toward the minivan and was shot by the teen, police said.
Police said they had recovered two 9 millimeter casings near Valladolid’s body.
Social media posts by the teen suspect showed him handling assault rifles and handguns, including one with a 9 mm barrel magazine, investigators said.
Prosecutors filed charges Wednesday in juvenile court against the teen but asked the judge to move the suspect’s case to adult court.
