SEATTLE — Nearly 9,800 Seattle City Light customers were affected by a power outage Thursday evening in West Seattle.

City Light said the outage was caused by a utility pole’s equipment failure, which caused a high voltage wire to break.

KIRO 7 had a crew in the area and captured shots of large sections of the neighborhood in the dark, losing power just before 6 p.m.

At about 7:10 p.m. City LIght said it had restored power to nearly 4,800 customers.

And just after 7:31 p.m. power was restored to the majority of customers except for 476 customers.

City Light estimated all power would be restored by midnight.
