SEATTLE — Electric vehicles received a big boost on Friday morning, as the Port of Seattle hosted community leaders looking to ditch fossil fuels and go electric.
Buses are the backbone of organized travel around America, and in Seattle they’re used for employee shuttles, group and regional travel and cruise passenger transport.
If all the buses in Seattle were electric, the air may even be a little cleaner.
The Port of Seattle is looking to be net-zero or better for emissions by 2040.
The “Move Washington Ahead” bill package in the legislature would include $5.4 billion toward electrification, which could include buses.
The package could be considered by lawmakers on Monday.
At the presentation Friday, the electric bus traveled from Portland to Seattle. It left on a 90% charge and arrived with a 26% charge.
