RENTON, Wash. — The new Ikea store in Renton opened Wednesday after a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Ikea's new location is next to the old store.
According to the Seattle Times the new store is two stories tall and covers approximately 399,000 square feet.
The new store has a larger restaurant and children's playroom with floor-to-ceiling windows.
The store also has the state's largest rooftop solar array, which produces electricity for the store.
The old Ikea closed at 6 p.m. Monday and the new location opened at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Ikea will demolish the old store to create more parking. Off-site parking with shuttle service on weekends will resume.
