RENTON, Wash. — The City of Renton is getting some upgrades.
The Renton Market is currently under construction.
The new public market will feature local vendors, artisan goods, and more.
It will be open 7 days a week.
“Soon, you’ll find a diverse mix of vendors offering everything from fresh produce and baked goods to handcrafted homewares. We’re busy curating a lineup that celebrates creativity, quality, and community — stay tuned as we bring together the best of the region under one roof,” the website reads.
Renton Market is located at 233 Burnett Avenue South next to Piazza Park and Legacy Square.
The city installed the sign last week and says the project has passed its electrical inspection. It is currently awaiting mechanical and fire inspections.
Once those are completed, the team expects to receive the building inspection permit and the Certificate of Occupancy.
Once those approvals have been completed, the city will turn the keys over to the operator, who will begin preparing the space for incoming vendors and businesses. A tentative date for this to happen has not been announced.
The city says that irrigation work is now underway and new benches are being installed at nearby Piazza Park. The stage still needs to be installed and final plantings need to happen before the project is complete.
The park and the market are part of the city’s Renton Downtown Civic Core and Action Plan. The plan was requested by Mayor Dennis Law and the Renton City Council in 2016. It was created to address the relocation of the transit center and outlines specific actions for future possibilities and opportunities in Renton’s downtown.
