EATONVILLE, Wash. — Starting Monday, January 27, Nisqually State Park in Eatonville will close to complete phased maintenance and construction.
According to the Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission, the park is expected to remain closed until the fall.
The development is currently in its second phase, focusing on the staff residence, administrative building, interpretive plaza, Nisqually River managed access, and power service.
The current phase of work to be completed in 2025 includes:
- Construction of an interpretive plaza and several new operational facilities, including a staff residence and admin building
- Development of a trail system to the Nisqually River
- Construction of multiple river overlooks
Once completed, the interpretive plaza will serve as the trail’s starting point. The trail provides information about the Nisqually Tribe and the area’s land, water, and resources.
The new trails and overlooks will give visitors access to the Nisqually River and a view of Ohop Creek which are important for several species of salmon.
