Nordstrom announces job cuts

Nordstrom is laying off 30 workers in Seattle, and 106 people nationwide

Also affected are 18 workers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and 58 others who work from home across the United States.

According to the Seattle Times, all of the jobs are held by “customer-care specialists,” who answer customer questions over the phone or internet.

“We’ve tried different solutions to address the problem, but ultimately decided to reduce roles. Though these kinds of decisions are never easy, we believe this change will position us to best meet the long-term needs of our business,” Nordstrom announced in a statement.

The job cuts were made last week, but the workers will be paid through April 1.
